abstract = "The Cerrado biome is frequently affected by forest fires, not only
due to the accumulation of biomass during the dry season, but
mainly due to the proximity of rural areas and roads. In this
context, and soughting for a better control and predictability to
fires in Conservation Units, this research aimed the elaboration
of a forest fire hazard map for the contiguous Conservation Units
Ref{\'u}gio de Vida Silvestre Veredas do Oeste Baiano (Bahia) and
the Nascentes do Rio Vermelho Environmental Protection Area
(Goi{\'a}s), collaborating with the management and protection of
the fauna and flora of the study area. This region had its
conversion process intensified since the year 2000, with a high
correlation with the number of fires. Among the results, it was
verified that the areas of greater risk are those surrounding the
agricultural areas and roads (asphalted or not). In the analyzed
time series (2000 to 2015), 79.5% (2409.07 km²) of the area was
burned at least once; In 2011, these two Conservation Units had
more than 60 thousand hectares burned, being the largest burn
event in the analyzed period. Renewal of native pasture over the
Cerrado and hunter actions also pose a risk to the burnings in the
                         region.",
